St Annes Hebrew Congregation have appointed Rabbi Danny Bergson as their new Rabbi who, together with his wife Anna and family will take up his new role in August, to replace Rabbi Ephraim Guttentag, who will be leaving St Annes after four years to become Community Rabbi at Hampstead Garden Suburb Synagogue.
St Annes President Robert Pinkus said that Rabbi Guttentag, together with Rebbetzen Malki, had performed wonderfully well in St Annes, being very popular with the existing members of the 200 strong community, as well as attracting a number of new members. We will miss them both and wish them well in their new roles.
He went on to say that he had no doubts that Rabbi Bergson, who has been Rabbi at Pinner United Synagogue for over 6 years, and before that at Newton Mearns Hebrew Congregation, Glasgow, would carry on the good work of his predecessor and that the community were looking forward to his arrival, having first experienced his leading of the services over Pesach, 15 years ago.
Rabbi Bergson said he is delighted to be taking on his new role. He was struck by the genuine warmth and sense of community in St Anne’s and looks forward to working together with the community very soon.
