Kindertransport by Diane Samuels – Aberystwyth

It is 1939. Eva Schlesinger is just 9 years old when her mother puts her on a train headed into a foreign country and an uncertain future, knowing that they may never see each other again. A German-Jewish child, Eva has been entered by her parents for the “Kindertransport”, a rescue measure undertaken by the British government to save Jewish children from Nazi persecution.

Arriving in England, Eva is taken in by the Miller family and, to all outward appearances, successfully adapts to English language and lifestyle. However, her childhood experiences resonate down the years and the discovery of old letters and papers by her own daughter forces Eva to revisit the past.
