Kaddish for Jews Buried in Arab Lands

Kaddish for #YomPlitim

Many years ago, the government of Israel supported the establishment of November 30th as Yom Plitim, a day to remember Jewish refugees from Arab lands. This Saturday is the day that many around the world will also say prayers for Jews buried in Islamic Lands.

In 2018 for the first time, synagogues around the world recited Kaddish to honour family members. This was initiated by Sass Peress, from Montreal, who began seeking out the burial sites of his family in Iraq and invited others to join him in the search for loved ones.

This year the number of synagogues participating has doubled, with hundreds of people accessing the online pictures for their own searches.

Finally, even if you are not attending an official place of worship, please take a few moments to say your very own kind of prayer.
