On 14th January communities from Lancaster, Preston, Blackpool, St Annes and Southport came together at the Orchard Road synagogue in St Annes, to network and discuss issues on Community Engagement and supporting Jewish needs in secular organisations.
Jonny Wineberg, of Community Futures, and Gilian Hamilton, a community volunteer worker from Great Manchester, related their experiences of bringing communities together.
Marc Levy, of the Jewish Leadership Council, helped lead a mixture of round-table discussions and topic based breakout groups generated ideas for the communities to take away and use.
After lunch Ashley Boroda got the audience to participate in finding out “Why Are Jews Funny?”
Ed Horwich, JSCN coordinator, will be visiting the Newcastle communities over Shabbat early in March.
The next Regional Network meeting will be in Sheffield on 17th June 2018
