In the Southport Jewish community practically every family had at least one member sign up to fight in WW1. The picture below shows the magnificent marble memorial plaque commemorating those who fought and those who gave their lives.
Recently British Jews in the First World War took its “We Were There Too” roadshow to Southport on the Lancashire coast.
JSCN was there to lend a hand, as this was one of the small communities we had help the project to contact.
Also there was Rabbi Abel, the armed forces Jewish Chaplain.
An audience of around 40 found out how they could contribute to the project, and there were several discussions initiated with project team.
