The congregation was founded in the autumn of 2001.
Eastbourne Liberal Jewish Community serves progressive Jews in Eastbourne and the wider East Sussex area (Lewes, Peacehaven, Newhaven, Seaford, Bexhill, Hastings) who want to belong a vibrant Jewish community.
Services alternate between Friday nights and Shabbat morning - see the ELJC website for more details.
Services are led by student rabbis, visiting rabbis and lay leaders and there are always many opportunities for congregation participation from those who wish to do so. The services are in a mixture of English and Hebrew (with transliteration available) and are dignified but informal.

Have been a member of the Brighton Liberal Community for decades, but am now living in Lewes. Are there “enough” Liberal Jews in Lewes to try and organise some kind of get together?
