I am a former ‘Bexhillian’, now living near St Albans. My grandparents, Joe and Gertie Krantz lived in Ashford Road Eastbourne and attended the shul, where I commuted by train for Sunday cheder and was barmitzvah in 1962. At the time, services were conducted by the late Rev Chaim Zack and emeritus Rev Wolfe.

I am sad to learn that the shul has been sold but am pleased that you are able to maintain a loyal congregation.

My grandparents are buried in the Jewish section of Langley Cemetery.

Can you kindly inform me as to who is responsible for the upkeep of that Jewish section.

    Best wishes

I have just had my book published about inspiring Jewish nonagenarians, and one of the twelve chapters is about Menashe Cohen Aharonoff OBM, who was a past president of your congregation.
I would like to post off a copy to David Huglin but do not have an address. David made the introduction. Can I post to you and then perhaps you can kindly pass on to him?

Kind regards and thanks for any assistance

It was a pleasure meeting Ronnie & Linda Taylor of Eastbourne recently on board the Arcadia on a very eventful cruise.
Please give our best wishes to Ronnie & Linda, Yerachmeale Laib ben Mosheh from Yerachmeale Shragga ben Yaacov and his wife Lynne.

Hello I am Lucy, the chairperson of the local Womens Interfaith Network. Firstly we have no Jewish women in our group so if anybody is free once a month, usually the first Thursday morning of the month, it would be great to see somebody and have a connection with the local Jewish community.
We are a friendly group of women who are from different ages, faith and cultural backgrounds. We meet for coffee and food in each others homes , primarily as a group of friends to try and build bridges and understanding and break down barriers between people.

Secondly Rev Danny of St Mary’s in Hampden Park has been overseeing an angels project across Eastbourne to be held this December . He would like a panel of people from the Abrahamic religions to discuss the meaning and significance of angels in their various traditions. Would anybody from your community be willing to take part ?

Hi, my name is Greg and I live in Eastbourne,

I do not have a comment to make but a questin I wish to ask.

I do not know any of you and I am not of Jewish origin. To be honest I have neither any connection or asssociation with the community.

I have been studying Jewes history out of personal interest for a few years.

I just wanted to ask you whether it would be possible to attend yout service and experience a bit of the local jewish culture.

    Kind Regards

Hi, we have a large collection of Einayim children’s magazines and we’re looking for a happy home for them. We’re near to this synagogue and we’ll happily donate them to a good home. If they’ll be useful please get in touch and maybe we can arrange for you to have them. They’re all in near-perfect condition.
