We were there, passionate and powerful. Last night Karimia Institute hosted the launch of 3 new action teams using community organising to work on 1. Mental Health 2. Fair Work, Jobs and Wages 3. Education and Young People. Inspiring and harrowing stories were shared. This is the start.

All members are encouraged to participate in these teams - it's not too late to join in. Contact your institutional leader, or your organiser to find out more.

    Dear All,

I hope you and those around you are well and that the events in Paris will perhaps be a springboard to maintaining the rights and freedoms of law abiding citizens everywhere.

Whilst recent events in Paris have motivated this approach, it is one which (unfortunately) would have been required sooner or later following the continued reduction of traditional policing and increasing demand on their services.

I have just become aware of Shomrim and must give credit to the initiative which should form the template for other communities and have emailed that operation with the hope of forming a strategic alliance.

As a retired Police Officer I have experience of building and managing successful community projects to reduce crime and the fear of crime and have received awards for conceptual approaches to operations and funding opportunities.

Operating now as the Community Support Manager for Facilitas, I manage teams which have seen the elimination of metal theft along the UK’s 14 miles of railway test track to ensure disruption free testing and maintenance of London Underground’s entire fleet of rolling stock. Such theft is the highest value crime ever to have occurred in the UK and we are the only security operation (including Police) to have eradicated the offence from the railway through the application of our community programs providing early warning of trouble.

Our most recent concept can be included in our services. We can provide monitored alarms entirely free of charge to homes and businesses and provide a patrol service to deter wrong doing with a response free of charge to check activations at premises.

In looking to influence safer communities we have formed a social enterprise not for profit Community Interest Company which will return surplus funds to community projects and would hope to discuss options.

Thank you for your time so far and we look forward to hearing from you.
