Anyone know how I can access the records of the congregation of Langside synagogue.
Searching for the name Yosef Salop ( and his wife Rachel Salop nee Hirsh) an early migrant and his son Abraham Salop born 1851
Abraham is buried in Glenduffhill Cemetery

My great grandparents were Lewis & Rebecca Eitman who lived in Bowman Street, Glasgow. My grandmother was Sarah, one of twin daughters. Her brother, the only son of the family, emigrated to Canada and had two daughters. The siblings kept in touch as did their children and now as their grandchildren and great grandchildren do.

Wondering if Norman Plotkin is a relation.

Norman Plotkin was in my class at Queens Park Senior Secondary,
I attended Queens Park from 1954 to 1959.
There was a fair proportion of Jewish pupils at the school
One of the ones I remember most fondly was Freddy Brooks who I sat beside during Mr Imrie’s
    Maths Classes in South Building.
    I think Norman was in that class , probably 2nd or 3rd years ( Class 2D. or 3D )
    All the best

    Good Evening!

My relatives R. Bela ( Hershel) HEISZ and his 1st wife ( Mrs Olga RAPAPORT) were my relatives.
She passed away in 1963 and he remarried to Mrs TIMAR.
Mr HEiSZ was a kantor in your community. He passed away in 1995.

I am looking for information about them for my family tree!

    Please contact to my email:

Having come across your internet request dated May 2017, I wonder if you are the Norman Plotkin
who lived in Bowman Street in Glasgow and, as I did, attended Annette Street School,. I recall some
of the other Jewish children who went there – Ronnie Bullen, Alan Plancey, Anita Goldberg and Phylis
Rosen. The teacher in my qualifying class was the excellent Miss Leitch. After Annette Street and very
much against my will, I went to Allan Glen’s School, my father being determined to give me the education he never had, a well-meaning but misguided decision.

    Best wishes,
    Duncan Macintyre.

My name is Norman Plotkin and my father, Abie Plotkin, was the shamash of this shul for many years. My grandfather, Lewis Eitman, donated a stained glass plaque in a window, in honor of my parents, Abraham and Annie Plotkin’s marriage.
I would like to correspond with whomever is currently in charge of the shul to possibly receive a photograph of this plaque for sentimental reasons. It is located in the lower half of the window on the right side window where the rabbi sat.
I look forward to hearing from someone!
    Many thanks,
    Norman Plotkin
