Second Shabbat in Scarborough

York at Scarborough

The York Liberal Jewish Community held another successful service in Scarborough when over 30 people attended the Shabbat morning  service on Saturday 30th July 2016 at Albermarle Baptist Church on Albermarle Crescent.

“It means such a lot to the Jews of Scarborough to be able to attend a religious service in their own town,” said Rabbi Dr. Robert Ash, who traveled from Preston in Lancaster to officiate at the service.

“Because of the holiday period a number of our members from York could not be with us this time but this was made up by ‘first timers’  attending from the local area,”  explained Ben Rich, the Chair of York Liberal Jewish Community.

Because of the wonderful weather a number of community members were able to go to the beach to enjoy a picnic.

York Liberal Jewish Community at Scarborough is now a regular event and the next service in the autumn, will once more be a Shabbat morning service.
